Essential Skills and Strategies to Get a Job


What to do to be employed in a highly competitive labor market where attractive options for employment appear to be scarce and where employers have the option of choosing from hundreds of applicants. Nowadays it is one of the significant questions that many candidates have to face today when seeking for employment.  It is notorious that candidates must have provable knowledge and skills in their resumes to be interviewed by headhunters and employers.
There are some weaknesses that candidates need to improve when they are going to labor market. The point is how people can transform their weaknesses in strengths before of the job interview. Certainly, there are some skills and strategies that people can develop to be successful in their interviews.
First, a well written resume is one of the main requirements to compete in the labor market. Generally some candidates prepare long resumes without highlighting the main features, dates of work, and achievements obtained in the positions performed.  Also full of misspellings, wrong punctuation, and lacking a technical vocabulary to explain the functions performed in their work. These mistakes work against and applicants could be rejected by employers and headhunters, becoming unsuccessful candidates. If you lack these aspects, it is important to consult a qualified expert who can help in this regard.
Second, most jobs require that candidates have good communications. Employers and headhunters check written communication when they read the resumes. In the interview recruiters watch your voice, tone, gestures, and speech. Furthermore, employer evaluates the verbal communications.  There are two phases in verbal communication that applicants need to handle in their job interviews: descriptive and persuasive communication. Descriptive communication describes the activities performed in the jobs. While in the persuasive communication the focus is demonstrate to the employer with a convince speech why you are the ideal candidate to fill the job. Both phases are important because they help to organize the job interview and show communications skills, which are important in any job.           .           
            Third, candidates need to stand out in their resumes which have been their achievements in the company. Apparently it may be easy to put a certain percentage of achievement, but a head hunter or employer will wonder how did the individual to achieve such an accomplishment that made a difference in his job. It is important that candidates have incorporated within their abilities what is generally known as critical thinking. Critical thinking refers to the ability to use knowledge, facts, and data to effectively solve workplace problem. Furthermore, critical thinking is a good method to be incorporated as skills to explain step by step how the candidate has added value in the company. It is a powerful tool to organize the ideas and explain with details how the candidate faced and solved a problem in the company.
            Four, the proliferation of websites offering job opportunities are many. Actually there are few that can seriously be an interesting option to invest their time in deciphering complex pages, which eventually end up offering other things than their intended purpose of seeking work options. For this it is more advisable to find job options through family, friends, neighbors, associations to which you are affiliated, serious headhunters, websites of companies or institutions that are handling offers in the market. This is a safe way and will avoid a waste of time.
To conclude, there are other points that job seekers need to know when they are looking for a job; these will be explained in other articles.
